The past few years have been busy in non-MR2 things, and my MR2's (yes 2 of them) haven't gotten a lot of attention. And, for that reason, some of you may not recall me or my car(s) from various meets.
#1 car is a fully restored AW15, so not much needed then except drive it, and normal operating maintenance (tires, batteries, brakes, oil, etc.)
#2 is my "project" car which is nearly an identical AW15 now, differing only in T-tops vs Sunroof, and some coloring in cabin. This winter is time to finish the job....
Things for this fall to bring it to a new life:
a) new tires - DONE
b) new battery - DONE
c) brake job - DONE
d) rust cut out and replaced with new metal, then primed - DONE
e) air effects updated - DONE
f) full body paint job - SCHEDULED DAYS FROM NOW
g) mount decals from my parts stash (yes, I really do have Toyota original decals for this car) - PLANNED, NOT URGENT
h) stereo swap-back - NOT PLANNED YET
i) get a replacement fuse-box cover for the engine compartment - SEARCH IN PROCESS, NON-CRITICAL
The result will be two near-identical MR2's with the only perceptible difference being the T-top/Sunroof, and an after-market stereo (for which I have a replacement for "collector" picture purposes).
My intent this winter is to submit the paperwork to ICBC to have them BOTH "collector" plated at a ridiculously low rate by spring 2017.
And then next year my hope is to drive TWO 2's side-by-side in the Tsawwassen Sun Festival. Should be fun!
A few more steps, a bunch more money, and it may actually happen.
