Driver side door alarm

Postby redMr2 » Tue Jul 05, 2011 3:06 am

Hey guys, I'm a noob on this board and also bad with cars :(
I have this problem that when I open the door from the driver side, the alarm goes off, I have to go to the passenger side and stick the key in and turn it to disable it. So everyday when i get in my car i have to open it from the passenger side -_-". I think some of the wiring on the driver side door is screwed up, because when it's open, the dome lights and courtesy door lights are not on, and also there is no beeping noise (the beeping noise that indicates the door is open with the key in the ignition). But some stuff still works, for example the power locks and window still work, and the light that indicates a door is open still works. Like I said, I'm not good with cars, so it'd be great if any of you could tell me what's wrong or what I can do.
Thanks, :D

I would guess that you have the old worn out door wiring problem;

so i figured out that if i press this thing(sorry I don't know what it's called) half way in, the courtesy door lights and dome lights come on.

It sounds like you just need to take that thing out and give it a good clean, or replace it.
