8Gauge crimper

Postby Oteck » Mon Jan 04, 2010 11:49 pm

Does anyone have a tool and know the proper procedure to crimp these fat wires? I have a bullet but w/ no way to crimp it. I hear you need to solder it but do you do that before or after it's crimped? This is for the alternator cable on my v6 and its somewhat holding me back

The way I've seen it done is to put a bunch of solder into the end of the connector, melt it, insert the wire, then take a punch and give it a good whack or two with a hammer.

I hear it should be soldered after it's crimped as it may crack if done the other way. What im thinking is first i put some solder on the wires > then insert the cable > then torch it > right away crimp it
