OEM SUB WOOFER IMPEDANCE

Does anybody know by any chance what is the OEM sub woofer impedance? I am thinking about re-vamping my speakers but just the subwoofer is US$160 so I wanna make sure I get the right impedance one as there are both 4 and 8 ohms available. The BGB doesn't say anything about it neither all the sources I have checked, so the only thing left is taking the sub out.

Mine was 2 ohms 1993 dual subs..
FYi i just replaced all my speakers with Infinity reference speakers,
Amazing difference.
5 1/4 subs, 6 1/2 doors, 4" squakers, kept the '93 tweets..

2 ohms? that is a really weird ohmiage. The usual ones are either 4 or 8 ohms.

Actually, it's very common in car stereos to wire into 2 ohms. Most aftermarket amplifiers show specs for 4 & 2 ohm configurations.

if they are 2 ohm subs and you have 2 of them on a 4 ohm amp then you can only run them in series, and it will make 4 ohms

if you are runing 2, 8ohm subs and you want to bring them down to 4 ohms you run them in parallel

and the normal is actually 8 in house holds on lower grade speakers, 4 in car speakers and high end house speakers, and 2 ohm in high end car speakers...

Not the case with the '93+ as they have separate amps for each sub.
Doors were 4 ohms

Well, I guess I will have to wait to see mine, cuz I'm in Mexico City at the moment and the car is in Merida, 1,333 kms. away from here. I'll take it out to find out. I have already once taken it out and had it re-coned with a brand new high-end cone, but don't remember if I ever saw the ohms on it. By the way, I believe I forgot to mention that my car is a 91 Turbo and it only has one sub-woofer, so the info with two woofers is useless for my case. I just wanna buy a new one and remember that someone recommended the JBL sub and I was impressed. Mighty expensive though.

I know this is an old thread, but I am still tempted to replace my subwoofer, and I found one from JL which is the C5 available both in 4 and 8 ohms, so I just pulled out the sub woofer of my 91 Turbo and found out that it is 4 ohms, so now I know which one to order.
