So me and driftingzzw30 spent 8 hours detailing the MR2s... My car's paint need extensive work.
We washed all the dirt and grime off the car that was from a very spirited drive in the boonies the other night with bbarnumboy. Then we clay barred the paint to get all the contaminants out of the paint to get it smooth as glass. After another wash and masking all the trim (what a pain in the ass that was! Thanks driftingzzw30) we cut the oxidized pink paint with a compound and orbital buffer, then polished it thereafter.
Finally comes the wax. Quick story: The day before I watched a video on youtube that got me inspired about the paint on my MR2. I showed it to driftingzzw30 and he thought that we should have a detailing shop just work on my car. But apparently they charge over $1,000 for what I wanted... here's the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEr6_q5JLZISo back to the wax job on my car. I come to see that my brand new can on wax has been clawed at by 4 fingers...
I figured that there was a first time for everything and decided to give that method a try and we both hand massaged 1/3 of the can of wax on my car.
His Spyder only needed a light polish and wax for the first time after taking ownership of it. Another 1/3 of the can went on his car somehow despite his car not having a roof.....
A mandatory photoshoot was necessary, so here were the results. Enjoy!
