Saw the first one today on CL.
wow, this guy was asking quite a bit, I wonder where the market for these will be at.

Maybe Kin could share some light as to how much after all said and done importing privately.

nevermind, those threads are general.
I was asking about his car in particular (MKIII) "all said and done"
those threads don't give an exact figure for purchase price, importing, inspection, duty.

Well, from my import how-to thread;

At the border you pay the RIV fee + AC tax, then you pay GST and Duty. The inspection is about $60, then you pay PST when it's registered.

This is the same for every car (15 years old or younger), so add those to your purchase price, and you have your number.

The only other thing to add in is insurance permits. The Temporary Binder of Insurance is approx $50 and then a US permit which changes price depending on which state you buy it in.

For example, if you find a Spyder for $15k;

RIV + AC Fee = $306.70
GST @ 5% = $750
Duty @ 6.1% = $915
Inspection = $60
PST @ 7% = $1050
Insurance Permits (being overly cautious) = $100
My permit in Oregon was $20 and lasts for 21 days (think about that ICBC!)

Total = $3178

Thanks Russ

i pointed to the number of stickies where people like Russ spent a great deal of time to post up.
Where you can take your US car value and read the sticking and come up with a price.
