adam L and i saw this already. Adam called; they brought the car up, then where informed about it and have to get it back south in 45 days. A clever bunch.

I dont know why they are still trying to sell it!

HAHAHA, So you could go buy the car, "be the only one in Canada" for about a month, then you're screwed.

how would ownership transfer work? the car isn't/can't even be registered in canada, and im quite sure potential owners will figure this out before forking any money over

The small dealership was notified that they made a f-up by a guy out in Nova Scotia that also has done the same thing.

I wonder if they get the duty they paid on the car bring it up back? Thats going to be a double slap in the face if they don't.

Out of my ignorance and curiosity, aren't mkIII's insurable in Canada? Why not?

I think it comes down to two small words..."Crash Test".

i dont think that its so much the mk3 couldnt be made to be compliant with canadian frontal crash tests, toyota was just too lazy (read not enough of a market in canada) to make the appropriate changes.

agree with this and believe it far more than the bumper or seatbelt rumors.

i have yet to see proof of those rumors.

the mkiii only sold 4500 cars a year in the states.

It has nothing to do with anyone being 'lazy' and everything to do with market.

Low new sales, and losing Canadian used car sales to the USA leads to inadmissibility

in other words, too 'lazy' to make it worth their while.

It wouldn't be worth their while if they tried. I don't think they would even sell enough cars to cover printing of brochures.
