pictures are correct

HKS is a really well done exhaust with larger pipes and 2 larger mufflers.
Keeping the sound level down..

As on a MKI making a performance exhaust with a decent sound level is difficult

Muffler and tips are separate. If you order just the muffler from Toyota, it will not come with the tips. You have to order them separately.

Cam, I believe that OEM SC muffler has the same diameter as the HKS. 2.5 inches inner diameter. It's only the OEM NA that has 2" inner diameter.

Hum ok..
I had some issue in the past but possibly it was because there is not aftermarket cat listed for a MKI SC

you pay for what you get..

From what I heard it is a economy system..
Meaning.. mild steel is used and pipes muffler doesn't last very long.

If your car is NA.. then I would highly recommend getting a SC muffler from toyota over the border.
They are dirty cheap for a OEM muffler.. and the quality is toyota..
Last for couple decades

They were available on Ebay for a longest time. But I haven't seen them lately. Keep in mind they have a little bit of raspy sound. More like a fart can muffler.

Re: MK1 Exhaust

OK I am new here but I am going to ask this dumb question.

I need to replace the muffler on my 86 MR2. I read this thread and I saw where it is suggested to get a OEM SC Muffler as a replacement. I have looked online and can't seem to find even a mention of those for sale. Someone mentioned finding one "over the boarder". Can anyone assist in telling me WHERE I could find one?

Thanks,
Teal

Check 1sttoyotaparts.com and have it shipped to somewhere south of the border such as The Letter Carrier in PT.Roberts, or Blaine Enterprises.

note: the SC Muffler is not a direct bolt on to the NA exhaust but can be adapted quite easily.
