OK everyone... I haven't posted anything in this thread for a few weeks. I have been very busy but I am finally back and I have new filters for us to look at.

I want to thank David_K and our sponsor Lordco, for donating the following four filter. :D So without wasting anymore time, let's get to it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Bosch Filter VS TOYOTA Denso Filter

PRICE:
Bosch: $14.29 + .50 cent echo fee (From Lordco)
Toyota OEM filter: $6.99 echo fee included (From any Toyota dealership)

Exterior: (before cutting)

Dimensions:
Both width and height are the same; 3.5 inches tall.

Pre-Lubed seal:
Bosch: NO
Toyota: Yes

Sealed bottom:
Bosch: NO
Toyota: Yes

Interior: (after cutting)

Anti Drain back Valve:
Bosch: Yes
Toyota: Yes

Filter material: (visual I am not a filter expert)

Bosch: Bosch filter is the same as Purolator Pure ONE. They are the exact same filter with different badges on them. As you can see in the pictures below, Bosch filter has the same unique anti-drain valve as the Purolator Pure ONE. Filter element is also the same. Naturally Botch filter’s reviews are the same. Bosch filter is well made and looks to be a great filter. Filter element is made of fabric feeling material and there are the exact number of filter element folds of 52. Unfortunately being the same filter as the Pure ONE, it is very costly.

Toyota: Toyota filter still has the same reviews as before :D It is still the best filter out there IMO. It’s still less than half the cost of the other top brands and still has the best all round constructions. Not even Bosch or Pure ONE can compete with it.

One thing I did notice is that there are more holes inside the Toyota filter then Bosch or Pure ONE. As you can see in the pictures, this can prove that the Toyota filter could have a better flow of oil while filtering better!

Filter Height:
Bosch: 2.75 inches or 6.9 cm
Toyota: 3.0 inches or 7.5 cm

Number of folds of the filter:
Bosch: 52 folds
Toyota: 44 folds

Valve structure:
Bosch: All metal
Toyota: Metal and plastic

BECK/ARNELY Filter VS TOYOTA Denso Filter

PRICE:
Beck/Arnely: $6.99 + .50 cent echo fee (From Lordco)
Toyota OEM filter: $6.99 echo fee included (From any Toyota dealership)

Exterior: (before cutting)

Dimensions:
As usual Toyota filter is taller sitting at 3.5 inches tall where as Beck/Arnely is only 3.0

Pre-Lubed seal:
Beck/Arnely: NO
Toyota: Yes

Sealed bottom:
Beck/Arnely: Yes !!!!!! (only other filter besides Toyota that has had a sealed bottom so far)
Toyota: Yes

Interior: (after cutting)

Anti Drain back Valve:
Beck/Arnely: Yes
Toyota: Yes

Filter material: (visual I am not a filter expert)

Beck/Arnely: Beck/Arnely is definitely a unique filter. It has its own design. Anti-drain valve is internal and part of the construction of the filter assembly. Like most others, it has a short filter element and uses a spacer ( a spring in this case) to fill up the rest of the room. It has the most number of filter element folds, counted at a whopping 65 folds. But unfortunately the element material feels cheap and like the paper. Being the same price at the Toyota filter, guess which one is a better bang for the buck?

Toyota: Toyota filter still has the same reviews as before :D It is still the best filter out there IMO. It’s still less than half the cost of the other top brands and still has the best all round constructions. Not even Bosch or Pure ONE can compete with it.

Filter Height:
Beck/Arnely: 2.25 inches or 5.5 cm
Toyota: 3.0 inches or 7.5 cm

Number of folds of the filter:
Beck/Arnely: 65 folds
Toyota: 44 folds

Valve structure:
Beck/Arnely: All metal but internally constructed
Toyota: Metal and plastic

FRAM TOUGH GUARD Filter VS TOYOTA Denso Filter

PRICE:
FRAM: $12.39 + .50 cent echo fee (From Lordco)
Toyota OEM filter: $6.99 echo fee included (From any Toyota dealership)

Exterior: (before cutting)

Dimensions:
Toyota measures at 3.5 inches tall where as FRAM is only 2.75 inches tall.

Pre-Lubed seal:
FRAM: NO
Toyota: Yes

Sealed bottom:
FRAM: NO
Toyota: Yes

Interior: (after cutting)

Anti Drain back Valve:
FRAM: Yes
Toyota: Yes

Filter material: (visual I am not a filter expert)

FRAM: Fram TOUGH GUARD is almost the same as the cheap Fram EXTRA GUARD. It is still the same cardboard constructed element. Filter is made of paper and held together with tow pieces of thin cardboard which can be easily torn with your figure nail. All other filter manufacturers so fall have used Metal or hard plastic to hold the filter element’s shape but FRAM uses cardboard. Make me wonder what happens to this filter when it is soaked with hot oil that can have upto 70 psi of pressure? Would it just fall apart????
There are two differences between the two FRAM filters. TOUGH GUARD had more element folds, 50 folds as suppose to 39. And the anti drain valve now has a screen as you can see in the picture below. So you are now paying $12.39 for these two extra features. Here is an advise, if you are a die hard FRAM fan, do not waste your money on TOUGH GUARD. EXTRA GUARD will do fine. There is one thing that I really like about the FRAM filters though, they have that textured head so they are very easy to remove. But I rather burn my hand and keep my engine alive for longer.

Toyota: Toyota filter still has the same reviews as before :D It is still the best filter out there IMO. It’s still less than half the cost of the other top brands and still has the best all round constructions. Not even Bosch or Pure ONE can compete with it.

Filter Height:
FRAM: 2.0 inches or 5.0 cm
Toyota: 3.0 inches or 7.5 cm

Number of folds of the filter:
FRAM: 50 folds
Toyota: 44 folds

Valve structure:
FRAM: Metal and plastic
Toyota: Metal and plastic

ACDelco Filter VS TOYOTA Denso Filter

PRICE:
ACDelco: $6.89 + .50 cent echo fee (From Lordco)
Toyota OEM filter: $6.99 echo fee included (From any Toyota dealership)

Exterior: (before cutting)

Dimensions:
Toyota measures at 3.5 inches tall where as ACDelco is only 3.0 inches tall.

Pre-Lubed seal:
ACDelco: NO
Toyota: Yes

Sealed bottom:
ACDelco: NO
Toyota: Yes

Interior: (after cutting)

Anti Drain back Valve:
ACDelco: Yes
Toyota: Yes

Filter material: (visual I am not a filter expert)

ACDelco: ACDelco filter looks like K&N. It has the same construction as you can see in the picture below. But the filter element material is crap. It is made of very thin paper. Even FRAM’s filter material puts ACDelco’s to shame. Although the all around construction is OK, the tin paper material puts this filter at the bottom. The anti-drain valve is the same idea K&N also. It is practically the same as K&N minus the crapy paper filter. For $6.89 it costs, there are better filters out there.

I guess it is safe to say that K&N filters are made by ACDelco just with better filteration.

Toyota: Toyota filter still has the same reviews as before :D It is still the best filter out there IMO. It’s still less than half the cost of the other top brands and still has the best all round constructions. Not even Bosch or Pure ONE can compete with it.

Filter Height:
ACDelco: 2.0 inches or 5.0 cm
Toyota: 3.0 inches or 7.5 cm

Number of folds of the filter:
ACDelco: 42 folds
Toyota: 44 folds

Valve structure:
ACDelco: Metal and plastic
Toyota: Metal and plastic

Wow all of this is such a good read! I wonder if the same goes for other car companies of filters (Honda, Ford) are they still better then the rest as well?
