1. Before I picked up the car I went to my insurance agent who sold me a binder of insurance get 10 days $58 it is the same price for 1 day or 10.
You will need your licence and the Vin#.

2. When I got to the states I went to the Department Of Licensing this cost me $23.50 US for 3 days.

In the states the plate stays with the car but you still have to license it to drive legally. Remember if you haven't started the 72 hour countdown and need to keep it in the states get licensed long enough and keep in mind they usually go by calendar day not 24 hour clock.

Also, it is very important to get your letter of recall started now, it takes time and most inspection places won't sign your car off unless it comes directly from Toyota Canada. You don't have to have the inspection done at Canadian Tire there are a few real shops who are authorized to do the inspection.

If you have any questions let me know I am happy to help.

I've been asked to descibe my own experiences with importing a car. I will be making a write up in the next day or two. I've got my car in for it's inspections today and I'd like to add that in as well.
