1986 MR2 and 1988 MR2 SC

Got a little carried away. I bought a 1986 MR2 - for the second time. I had bought it originally in Kingston, Ontario with 55,000km on it. Never winter driven - one owner. Sent my Dad to drive it back and he had an accident and broke his back with it in Northern, Ontario. Dad fully recovered and I tracked down the car. It has now been fully repaired and not just cobbled together - new paint, NOS body parts and now with 58,000km on it. Car has factory air, 5 speed, and is like new. I will post pictures once it is here (if I can figure out how).

Then I bought a 1988 Mica Orange MR2 SC with 140,000km on it. It has basically been stored for the last ten years with an occasional start-up a few times a year. It is a decent car with one loonie sized rust spot. A few spots where the paint is faded and the clearcoat has peeled. It runs well and I will pick it up today if the weather here gets a little warmer. It is a 5 speed car as well.

Both cars have zero modifications. Guess I need two car lifts.

Pretty rare to find one MK1 in decent shape let alone two. Good find(s)! Handling two cars is like handling two mistresses. They're fun together, but having one at a time gets to be a tough choice down the road. :P

So got the 88 in the garage. Battery is dead. Tires are weather cracked. Rest is pretty good. Ran well. Needs a muffler.

Thanks for fixing the links. There will be more pictures to follow as I do some work on the 88 sc and the 86 arrives here in Saskatoon. The 1988 needs a repaint on roof, engine lid, and trunk due to fading and clear coat peeling. The blister on the passenger side fender will be fixed as well. The rubber valance on the front is missing. The alloys are in nice shape, but I would like to switch to an aftermarket wheel to preserve them.

Bought two very nice teardrop SC wheels in Regina for $60. No other parts there though. I have tracked down a 1986 Sherwood (Green and Gold) auto that I might try to buy. It has been sitting for quite awhile, but has the clear Toyota visor on the back. I owned it 14 years ago.

The 1986 is now in my garage. I was wrong it just has 56000km. It has the original stereo and air. It also has sunroof cover. The body is absolutely amazing. Runs and drives like a brand new 1986 MR2.

I will add pictures once the 1986 MR2 is out. I found a set of OZ racing 14" alloys (Mito) on a Suzuki Esteem at local pick-a-part. Very good shape wearing 185/60/14 - right offset and hub bore and bolt pattern. $100 later and they are mine.
