My MR2 MKII project

Postby Mello » Sun Dec 09, 2012 3:00 pm

After years of dreaming of owning my own MR2 I finally got one. I got lucky on this one. It only has 105xxx km, no rust no accidents and no Mods. The previous owner took care of the car. Only drove it during the summer months. Came with all maintenance reciepts including the original invoice from Toyota when he bought the car.
I was hoping for a red color but when I saw this car I couldn't pass on it.

I only drove this car the day I picked it up. Then it went straight to the bodyshop were I work. I'm tearing it down because I want to change the color to Red. I'm doing it the rightway so the car can be fresh again just like it came from the factory.

Tear down starts. After I tore it down you can tell that car is really virgin.

Primered some parts. Only the first batch. There will be more

I will update as I go.
Also I want to Thank RePete for helping me and answering my questions. Looking to meeting you guys and attending the meets.

Thanks for looking

Looking good man! Keep us updated with the pics! But remember when you get it on the road go and autocross it so you can learn what that snap oversteer feels like and how to manage it ;) I almost spun my car the 4th day I had it. So I went to a parking lot in town and went to town to learn exactly what the web ment by the twitchyness of an mr2. Keep up the good work man

The paint so far looks bold!

I see you got some paint on the tires, a nice burnout will take care of that.

I haven't been able to post updates on this thread. I got so busy at work and putting this car together. It's now finish with just minor odds and ends I need to do. Was hoping to join all you last week but due to my work schedule got change, I missed the meet. Maybe next time I can come. Here are some pictures of the car. Thank you!
