Well, in case you guys didn't hear, I threw another rod or something in my engine. More knock; this time it was because I was low on oil, didn't realize it and did a few donuts in the wet. I imagine all the oil was on the side of the oil pan, and there was nothing to pick up.. so.. my bad. After some careful deliberation, I decided to limp it home. Had to get from Kerr and Marine to Rupert and 22nd in Vancouver. That was Halloween night, and the car's been sitting since.
So, my rebuild is now on green light.
I ordered Wiseco 86.5 mm forged pistons from ATS Racing today, as well as EGR block-off plates. Total was just under $600 Canadian, shipped to my door.
Next up, I'm trying to source a set of 3rd gen 3SGTE camshafts, and then move on to cam gears. I'll list out what I'm getting below.
Wiseco 86.5 mm pistons - ATS Racing
3rd gen 3SGTE camshafts - unknown
HKS cam gears - KO Racing
3S GTE clear cam cover, gotta show off those shiny cam gears!
- TwosRus
Cometic head gasket - KO Racing
ARP head studs - ATS Racing
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump - KO Racing
ATS EGR block off plates - ATS Racing
OEM water pump, oil pump, timing belt - ATS Racing
Full OEM gasket set - KO Racing
HFH, HFHOE - I found it online, but forgot where LOL. Lithia maybe?
Bolt ons, that will be a lot easier with the engine out:
ATS Racing intercooler kit - ATS Racing
Air intake kit - unknown
Manual boost controller - ATS Racing
Gauges; boost, oil pressure, wideband O2 - unknown
I'd definitely love to get an electronic boost controller, but that can wait, since a manual one works just as well.
Looking at towing the car to the shop within the next 2 weeks, then dropping the engine and trans. I'm also gonna look for synchros for the E153 transmission; I'm tired of my 2nd gear grind and would love to do it all in one shot. There will be other small things too, like maybe a TRD thermostat, radiator cap, oil cap, engine bay bolts, some polishing of things like heat shield, water neck, etc.
Let me know what you think, especially if you think I should add connecting rods, valves, valve springs and such to the list.
