Kay, I was wandering around the Internet again, looking for parts to buy this coming winter. Planning on Koni yellows and try to get some sway bars for sure, but I'm also wanting to start tackling the engine. Gonna grab a wideband O2 and boost gauge first, and have been 'researching' for good ones. Came across these AEM ones on KORacing, and they look really good.

EBC and boost gauge combo

http://koracing.net/viewproduct.php?fol ... roduct=604

Wideband O2

http://koracing.net/viewproduct.php?fol ... roduct=389

Any opinions on them? I was gonna go with Autometer, but decided to go balls out and get some nice gauges. Also, how hard is it to install the EBC solenoid and stuff? First time tinkering with a turbo car, so it'll be a learning process for sure haha.

I have the other AEM boost gauge and the AEM Wideband gauge, both are nice. IMO the AEM Tru Boost Gauge you are looking at is too compact, I prefer having a separate electronic boost controller like an Apexi AVC-R, that's just a preference though.

Coincidentally, today my wideband gauge started acting up, it's reading in PO and P1 modes. I'm going to quickly look up what is wrong, hopefully an easy fix.

All I'm going to say is, whatever you get, make sure they're matching. :P

My Apexi AVC-R was really easy to install (I already had my carpet off though :P), just follow the instructions and you should be good to go.
If I could go back in time, I would actually grab one of these rather than splicing into the factory ECU wiring.

Here is the thread to back up the fact that it works.

Edit: I just fixed the minor issue with my gauge reading two different things (adjustment screw must have slightly rotated due to stupid engine mounts :P ).

Ah k, so I'll definitely be getting that harness to hook up to the EBC. Any reasons why you prefer a separate EBC? I was originally planning on having a simple one, like a GReddy to mount in the glovebox, but the idea of the boost controller and gauge in one package seemed appealing. Although, I've heard a lot of good things about the ACVR too, so that's another option.. Aren't they pricey though?

The AEM Tru boost gauge is great, but tuning from a gauge is not very appealing to me. I'm not too sure on what each boost controller features either, but I'm sure there is tons of information which will explain each one if you look it up. Yea, the avc-r's are still quiet expensive, just make sure you don't get a super cheap one like I did which doesn't work properly. :(

K, no cheapies :P

And if I were to get a 25mm spacer for my rear wheels, how close to flush would that be? Stock rears are 15x7 +45, I believe? So It'd make it +20 in the end?

Tempted to buy this JDM ECU..

http://www.mr2.com/forums/mk-2-parts-fs ... n-2-a.html

Is it truly plug and play. and does it really give 10-25 horsepower more? Assume I'm on 94 octane with just a 3" downpipe.

I'm running an Apexi AVC-R, and it's an awesome EBC. The tru-boost is not that reliable I have heard, though this is just hearsay. I run a wideband as well, and a regular electronic boost gauge, and through these three you can really watch what's going on in your car, as the AVC-R also shows you throttle position, revs, boost, and more if everything is hooked up.

I also have 20mm spacers in the rear, and have had no issues with them whatsoever, I know that wasn't your question, but a lot of people seem to think they're bad. They're not. :)

Sure, lol. I just ordered it yesterday, but gotta fix the shipping thing. I got it sent out to my friend's PO box in Point Roberts, but apparently they're overstocked and can't take any more or something?

Might as well post dimensions here too, for other members if they wanna make their own as well :P

not really plug and play, you have to re-pin the ecu harness and convert to a 1 or 2 wire o2 sensor vs a usdm 4 wire

There's two main types of hp. Hp and bhp hp is a "rougher estimate" where as break horse power the the power output right at the flywheel. Then you got kw, fluid hp, electric Hp, and Ps as a couple more measurements. Haha I'm just trying to be annoying. It might be better for power? But it's more work than its worth. It runs single wire o2 so that's a headache to deal with. I got a jdm ecu in my car, but I got all the other jdm goodies that come with. Ceramic turbo, no egr (which is just a pain when you want to make power)
