My Mk2 MR2

I'd be inclined to spend a bit more and buy from an established MR2 shop who's been importing MR2 clips specifically for years as opposed to one of the millions of general JDM engine imports that have popped up.

You guys think KO Racing supplies gen 3 clips? It would be great if they do since it's closer.

kakucaekz wrote:$4000 for a clip is kinda steep though, from Chico =\

Anybody hear of this site before? http://www.jdmenginedepot.com/jdm_engin ... ess,_&_ECU

Well, as mentioned $4k does get you everything you need. Let me tell you from personal experience (multiple times), when doing a swap, there is ALWAYS something you forget to pick up beforehand, and it's ALWAYS something that takes a week or more to get. I do think that even though it's big money up front, you will reap the benefits down the road. Besides, there's also a whole bunch of parts you can sell off afterwards.

I don't see clips on their website, but KO does do engine builds:

I'm sure they would be happy to do any sort of custom build as well.

Sorry to hear what happened to your 2 Dalton.
I would go with Chico for the half clip because you will have all the parts need to do the swap, this is the way (half clip) I will probably end up going when the time comes.
You can sell things off the clip when you are done like the turbo (ct20), exhaust, 94+ tail lights, etc. to make back some money if you do not use those parts.
There is also a vendor off mr2oc by the name of Rasacaca who is located in Montreal, he seems to have 3gen parts, engines, etc. Pm him and see if he has a half clip and let us know.

TCS has Gen3's as well.

I would at least talk to dh4ever and REDTWO about their recent engine rebuilds to get a good idea of the work and costs involved. If you rebuild you might be able to get a late 90's 5S from a Camry and make yourself a stroker motor...

Thanks for the posts guys =D I'll try KO and that dude on MR2OC. So far the clip from Chico looks the best, just cuz it is a clip and has everything. TCS' looks promising too though.. I thought about making a 5S-GTE, but I think dropping in another 3S would be just easier and faster.

Now I don't know whether I can ship the clip to a PO box in Point Roberts and have someone pick it up for me, is it possible?

It would depend on the company in Point Roberts and if they have the capability to receive something so large and heavy. You would have to contact them first and ask.

I love the gen 4 as well. It's just a newer engine that's still built like a tank. A 3rd gen is fine for me anyway, and it's an upgrade from a 20 year old 2nd gen.

I just picked up pads, rotors, lines, a caliper rebuild kit, an exhaust and downpipe from the carrier in Point Roberts.
They no longer accept large items that come delivered on a pallet (which yours will be delivered on).
They even stopped accepting wheels/tires due to space restrictions :(

Damn, really? Is this TSB or TLC? (I think those are the names lol). IIRC, there are 2 PO box places in PR. No matter, I'm buying Joe's engine now :D
