Another quick update.

The car is insured and driving!

Hooray! The exhaust is complete (and looks like shit, but that's another story, but it does sound awesome), Air/fuel ratio sensors have been lengthened and plugged in, dropped her off for an alignment today.

I'm sitting here at work, eagerly awaiting a phone call to tell me that it's ready to go. I can't concentrate on anything, I just need to go for a nice long drive! I'll try to add some pics and video over the next few days.

Hooray! Yeah man, I would not have patience for a V6 that is running after tons of work either!
I hope you enjoy that long drive you really need, just make sure you know when to come to a stop. :silly:

Little update;

I've been driving it around for a week today. Had a custom y-pipe made up. It cost a fortune and the shop didn't do it the way I asked them, but it runs, and sounds good. I had it towed to the shop (and that cost a fortune too!) because it was so incredibly loud. Really, words can't describe it.

More or less complete, just a few loose ends to tidy up;

she looks stock....
she sounds great....
she goes really well in the rain if Russ can find a gear where the wheels don't spin at anything over idle RPM

Well, went for a ride tonight in the monster. Still can't get the grin off my face. What a f***ing monster. Pulls like no tomorrow, pushes you into the seat like not much else I've ben in lately. Tractable, reasonably quiet until you bury the pedal and runs on regular - ? Who needs a turbo with the lag - Russ may have the perfect MR2 now- sigh. Very well done, Russ, nice to see it on the road and you having fun with it. Just get the tach sorted now. Got video of it starting, almost blew the speakers off my camera...

Haha it may be the perfect MR2, but to me nothing can replace the turbo whistling behind you, you don't get to hear that in most turbo cars because the engine's in front of you behind a firewall. I, for one, will always love that :)

But, I still think it's awesome, Russ. MR2s did still come N/A and you just made that one a lot faster :)

I know what you mean about the spooling, its awesome, especially with the new downpipe and exhaust I got installed, it screams! (thanks Jordan).

Hopefully Woodsport & Gouky get that supercharger kit for the 2grfe in production soon. :D

went for a ride tonight in the monster.

monster is one way to describe her

Pulls like no tomorrow,......

Yup!

Tractable

lmao
sorry,but that's what I was doing,it was raining so it was either idle or sideways,

reasonably quiet ...

surprisingly so ,nice deep rumble

until you bury the pedal

one of the nicest sounding exhausts I've heard
think F1 pace car kind of nice
or
Thor, gargling chains, in the Massey Tunnel

depending on the position of the drivers right foot

Russ may have the perfect MR2 now

I have to agree with this.Effortless power, anytime you want it.
All the pluses of a MK2 with a modern engine, you could probably hook up the standard muffler
and most people wouldn't have a clue it was anything but stock.

Be interesting to get it on a set of scales and see what the weight is compared to a stock MK2

With me, Carmen and half a hank of gas it is right at 3000lbs. according to the 176st truck scale. I'll weigh it again at mission one of these days.
