They aren't torn but the stitching is coming apart in several area, especially on the drivers side. I was originally thinking to get a more aggressive fixed back seat, but with all the street driving and road trips that I do that I would appreciate something a little more comfortable.

On another note, since I was under the car for the power steering install I was looking at the underbody plastics and several of the holes had seen better days. I decided that since they were off that I could try and fix them up a bit.

I started by wiping around the torn parts with soapy water, and then with a dry cloth and some brake clean.

I mixed up some bumper repair/playing weld type goo and globbed it all over the cracks.

I had one hole that was really torn up, so I goo'd up a washer to the back side of the panel.

There's still a couple of panels under the car that I'll probably do the same to at a later day.

For seats you should keep an eye out for some used frs seats very comfortable.

I did consider the FRS/BRZ seats, but they are quite heavy compared to the fixed backs I was looking at.

Painted the edges of the cut holes. I don't think I'll be able to mount the pump & reservoir tonight as I have an early Christmas dinner to go to, but I did test fit them before applying touch up paint and they seem fine. I'll still have to add those brackets underneath through.

That's all the major power steering components installed up front. I still need to install the sensor in the column, but for now I'm pretty happy that this is complete. The first pics are while I was going through the final hose routing, and the last three pics are the install complete.

I had a bunch of stuff apart and thought that it might be a good idea to look inside the starter. I have no history on it, and it's the one that came with the car, so it's possible that there's over 300k on it. As it turns out, it was actually in decent shape. I went and picked up brushes and contacts on the way home from work today, but I didn't even need them. The one contact that did have some wear, I had a spare for already. The only thing that I really did was sand down the surface of the plunger and she's ready to go!

Brushes, the two on the left are what came out of the starter, the middle is the spare I had kicking around and the right two are the new ones I picked up (and one is shaped differently for whatever reason).

So, I wanted to give the whole engine bay a really good clean up before Toyotafest this year, so I went out and bought myself a steam cleaner (McCulloch MC1275 in case anyone is curious). I (foolishly) didn't take any before pics, and there's still a lot more dirt and grime to get off, but the transmission side is starting to look good!

It really depends on how dirty things are to start with. For me, I had an axle boot open up and throw grease everywhere on that side. It happened a few years ago, and I cleaned up all the obvious stuff when it happened, but when I got down there it was super nasty. There were lots of places that needed mechanical influence (brushes, scrapers) on top of all the degreaser to loosen stuff up.

Here's another one that I've been working on, a welded filler neck:

Start with a weldable neck, a piece of pipe, and an OEM water outlet:

Put the pieces together and take them to a friend that can weld aluminum!
