ok, so last night i had a few vodka cruisers (what? it was the only alchoholic drink in the house) and decided to do the thing myself, only when i got it off i realized it was a sheet of metal wrapped in a thin layer of foam, and then the vinyl or whatever the stock material was...

so how exactly do i staple the new fabric to the metal? or should i break out the good ol' hot glue gun?

Glue it, but not hot glue, its too thick, find a thinner fabric glue.

My Grandma's doing this for me right now :D

Humberto does amazing work, I bought a jacket off him last year.

But.. be prepared to wait a long time. :)

update:

i found some nice black suede.... cut it to fit, and duct taped it to the sheet of metal, then reinstalled it. it looks perfect.

i'll take pictures next time i have a chance.
