Does anyone know a shop that shaves tires ???
Tried Fountain and Circut tire, no luck.

do I dare ask why? Can't you buy race specific tires so you can avoid this? I'm assuming that this is for racing.

I thought Circut Tire did do it... odd.... most tire re-tread places will, give em a call... But they wont touch em if they arn't new... Easiest is just to order em shaved for next time ie: TireRack...

What are you shaving anywho?

Yes, this is for my Toyo RA1 tires for racing.
Just got back from a very fast left-turn track, and got very uneven wear on the front right. The tire sits at about 60 o. I want to shave them down to the tread pattern, like slicks, anyway.

Circut tire hasn't had a shaving machine for at least 5 years now.

FYI: Toyo's suck until you get through the directional tread, they should be shaved to that before inital use... But they are an interesting tire tho, they get faster and faster until they cord... opposite of every other tire out there... most ppl wont touch used tires, but you can still give 'er a try... And, if ur not a member, join Toyo Racing... get some sweet discounts (And stickers... ie: more speed)

For racing purposes, the tires are "shaved" (reducing the tread depth) because under extreme usage (ie, on the race track) full blocks in the tire tread heat up dramatically, and can come off in big chunks. Obviously, that's no good when you're pushing the tire to the limit. Shaving them reduces the size of the blocks, and reduces the heat.

Plus, a taller block has more flex and squirm than a shorter block.....
