They've had those for a while. I think Princess Auto sells them also. It's a bit of a bummer that you're limited to working from a chair. I wonder how much more a taller lift is? Difference being that you can't lift a car fully in most garages.

Do they suggest fastening straight to your current slab? That seems a bit risky without knowing how it was built.

Oteck has one of these, doesn't he?

I just posted it to show what the going price was brand new.

Personally I think it was originally made for brake, tire, suspension repairs, in a outside shop. Were they had no intention to work under it.

If I can find it a web site online shows the difference is china made hoists to USA made ones. Were the certification on the china ones are incorrect weight limit

Not to mention Costco drops stuff off on your doorstep.

Either way, if there's risk of these things toppling over due to the way they're fastened, I don't want to be under, beside, or anywhere near it as it goes down. It'd be pretty hard to predict how a car loaded into two posts will fall.

The instructions to mount it are pretty much similar to any other 2 post hoist.
They are obviously only made to have downward load not side load.

dannmar instructions
Do I need a special floor or foundation to support my lift?

Most residential or commercial foundations are strong enough to support a MaxJax™ lift. The minimum requirements are 2500-3000 PSI 4" thick concrete. Be sure to check your floor on the possibility of it being a post tension slab. In this case contact the building architect before drilling. Visually inspect the site where the lift is to be installed and verify the concrete is in good condition. If your concrete has cracks or other defects, please consult with a certified contractor before proceeding to install the MaxJax™ lift.
Should I pre-mount the drop-in anchors in fresh concrete?

Although we don't recommend it, if you are careful to locate the anchors at precisely the correct spacing and depth, then this is an optional method of install. Mounting hole loctions can vary. Always consult concrete professional when installing new concrete and/or pre-mounting the drop-in anchors.

http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/ FAQ

Q: Can I get a footprint dimension so that I can pre-drill the holes for my lift?
A: It is not necessary to pre-mount anchor bolts for our two post lifts. When you receive the lift, the holes in the base of the lift will be the guide through which you will drill holes and set anchor bolts. We do not recommend pre-mounting anchor bolts into the concrete.

A: 2-post lifts (under 12,000 LB. capacity):
Four (4) inches of concrete at 3000 PSI
12,000 pound two-post lifts (and higher capacity):
Six (6) inches of concrete at 3000 PSI is required.

It's scary some of the stuff that goes on there. Bribing inspectors is totally normal, so even if your product is "CE" certified, the one you end up getting might not be the same as what was originally approved.

Dannmar MaxJax™ 2-post Portable Auto Lift $2,099.99

Postby adam » Wed Apr 09, 2014 6:27 pm

After watching two post lifts being installed in a new dealership shop, the thought of this mechanism truly scares the hell out of me. Of course they're designed for balanced loads, but how can you be sure that dropping a motor won't shift load enough to rip the bolts out of your who knows how old slab.

Perhaps I'm being a bit too risk adverse, but it's potentially the user's life that could be in jeopardy.

If I had a spare 2G I would have one of these.
Would come in handy as I have to drop my motor for a timing belt job!

Older the slab usually the stronger it is. Assuming it isn't weathered. Concrete 2years and younger can still be unstable and soft
