Thanks to all of you who came out and supported the BCMR2004 events. Your smmling faces and cars made all the bickering, long hours and bad dreams worth it all. I've (I think) atttached an excell s/s of the times from the autoX, but missing a lot of names, just car numbers. Our timing people didn't record the DNF run times, so don't ask me what you ran, we know.

BC2004 ... what a fun and well executed event! All you execs there really created a masterpiece of an event that will be cherished by all who attended for years to come. Standing ovation for all of you! And let's not forget to also thank all the friends, family, and on-the-day volunteers of the BC MR2 members for their efforts. Even the support of the MR2 owners that made it here from far and wide.

On top of that, the quality and generosity of all the sponsors involved to make this happen. They really made it one heck of a Knock Out event for me!

And for those that missed the Autocross, then you guys really did miss out a truly multi-dimensional course. When garage pampered '2s like mine and MR2MKISC come out and partake in such rituals by letting loose smelling like parfum metallique, what do you got to lose?

Put me down again for BC2005!

Thanks for the kind words, Ed and to Randy for posting the times.

BC2005 will undergo a few changes (Exec Board will be discussing soon).

BC2004 did not come close to breaking even this year.

It was definitely a learning experience. Due to lack of local member support, higher autoX costs, last minute cancellations and other unforeseen circumstances, we will have to relook how BC2005 is organized.

Just a few suggestions for BC2005

Just my $0.02 here, but I've been involved in my company's social committee, and we learned some lessons for organizing big events, such as Summer BBQs and Xmas parties for 2000 people.

Because of size of the BC200X event, one small group of volunteers cannot plan, organize, finance, execute, and report of all of the events effectively. Try for next year, to make sub-committees for each event. Such as make one member (usually the one most interested in the event) responsible for that event. He/she will be responsible for all activities for that event. The main executive can offer assistance, financing and advice (based on previous experiences). The "team leaders" of each event can report on a weekly basis to the executive the progress of the event.

This system only works based on the interest of its own members. If nobody steps up to take on an activity, say the Auto-X for example, then it simply doesn't happen. If/when somebody complains about it, then say that there were no resources for the event.

As Aly said, there wasn't as much participation from the local members this year. What better way to induce the members to participate in the success of their own club? There's more to membership than just paying the annual dues.

The executive are then free to manage the events by communication with each "team leader". Everybody shares the load, so that everybody also has some personal time too. The success of the club is determined by the interest and determination of it's members. Gotta also remember that the executive is VOLUNTARY, these people give up their own time to do this for free!

Anyhow, this message is long enough...

Can't add more to Pete's comments except to say that not everyone can participate as readily as we would like to. I'm forever stuck at work or other family obligations so I couldn't voulnteer because there aren't enough hours in the day.

Another idea you might want to percolate is to shorten the event to 2 days, the Show & Shine and the Auto-X.

Day 1
-------
Registration
Meet and greet
Evening run or poker run type event

Day 2
-------
8:30am to 12:00pm S&S
1:00pm to 6:00pm AUTO-X
7:00pm to 11:00pm (or later) BBQ or dinner somewhere (bring your own grub)

We may have to scale it down and offer the AutoX every second year (as someone suggested); however, as outgoing treasurer, I feel we can and should put BC2005 together as there are obviously people who are interested in attending.

Just a note to say thanks for the commitee for putting on the event! I feel as though it was certainly worth every bit of sweat and money, getting my car ready, as well as the weekend costs. Truly gives me inspiration to keep the MR2 and continue to upgrade it. I enjoyed every aspect of the weekend and look forward to next year.

Thanks again to all for those that participated, but especially those that ran it, and put it all togethor.

Cheers!

No problem guys!

The auto cross was excellent. Especially the tire smoking run. I watched the video...I had like at least 15 feet before the cement pole. :D

Hopefully, we can have a similar set up next year.

I had a great time. Many thanks to the planning committee & all who worked hard to put on a great event. I had a blast at this years' autox. The course was way faster than last year. Too bad I missed Saturday.
