94 rims on 93car...widest tire size possible?

I'm putting the staggered 94 rims on my 93 N/A with stock suspension.

What are the widest tire sizes I can put on my car?

Also....are Kumo tires petty good for traction etc?

People usually use a 205/50 & 225/50, but I think it's getting pretty difficult to find a matching set in those sizes now. There's not much point in going wider since the wheels aren't very wide. Kumho does make some good tires, but they make many different models, so do a little research. Last time I bought tires that small I did buy the Kumho ASX and they were great for an everyday around town tire.

Thanks for the info Russ....yup the stock 225/50R15 tires sizes are impossible to find except for Pirelli P Zero System tires...but they are pricey. I have some 17" aftermarket rims, but I'm trying to discourage the thieves in Vancouver as this car will be in Vancouver, hence my interest in stock rims and low priced good quality tires.

You're going to have a pretty hard time with 15's, but I wouldn't be too worried about running 17's. It's standard issue for an MR2 owner these days.

Agreed. And no one wants to jack 17" wheels from a quarter century old car anyway (most wheels today are Chinese cheapies). I've since removed my anti-theft lugs on my wheels (and they're Japanese forged wheels). There's just no reason for them anymore living in Vancouver with AMGs, M series BMWs and McLarens being commonplace around here - not to mention advanced car security systems.
