What year and model of MR2 do you have? A second gen could have two different transmissions. If you have a turbo you are looking for an E153, and then you need to know if you have a limited slip differential or not. If you have a non-turbo then you are looking for the S54.

An E153 with an LSD is a little more difficult to find (and priced accordingly). It's possible (but unlikely) you will find one locally, so I would start out by searching on the larger international forums like mr2.com & mr2oc.com. Ebay will also be a good place to look. The E153 was more commonly available without an LSD, (it was a 93+ option), so I assume that you have confirmed that you have one? The axle stubs in the transmission are different.

It would be better to rebuild it than gamble on a USED transmission w/ questionable milage. OR just get a new one.... I believe synchros will be really expensive to get as they don't sell it as a kit.

It all depends on your financial situation, goals and how long you want to keep the car. A rebuild is going to be big money, probably the same or more than a new tranny. If you get one new (out of the states), you are still in the neighbourhood of $2500USD. If you can find a used trans for $250-800 it makes a good argument for itself.
