WTB: PIPE SUB-ASSY, TURBO WATER, NO.1

Postby spookynick » Wed Jun 12, 2013 4:54 pm

Well, I belched a bit of steam today just as I pulled into work, I checked my lines, and everything seems fine (other than the obvious rust in my coolant), except 1 tiny little pin hole in what I think is my turbo coolant line (in/out). I added coolant, drove all the way home from Tilbury to Langley and just as I pulled into my driveway belched another cloud of steam.

I think the part # is 16027‑88382 for a 91.

So I was wondering if anyone could point me to the best/fastest place to pick one of these up in Langley?

I thought the North American pipes are stainless, so it would theoretically last forever. Mine are jdm and needed some repairs when I had the engine out in January.

for 32 I would just order one from toyota..

If you really need to drive your car till the part comes in, weld the hole or put a hose on top of it.

The pipes may or may not be stainless but if your cooling system is acidic it can eat any metal.

For that price I should have bought a new one instead of repairing mine. And replace the hose from hell while you are taking the pipe out. "Personal lube" works well to slip it on.

I think you might be confused which pipe this is,

HFH is attached by oil cooler, the part number listed is for the pipes going to the turbo water feed.

I'm still confused how part number 16027 in the picture, would make the HFH any easier?
As the HFH is attached to 16278 and 16268

No worries

Possibly you had octopus arms and could access the hfh from the opposite side is the engine.

That, that little bugger was the culprit, it sure looks like Stainless.
Had a tiny little pinhole in it, but as you know, that's more than enough room for a fluid to get out of lol

Cost me a few $ more than that :P

I got it in, with my bad back this was quite a son of a bitch to do, getting the last 3 bolts BACK in was quite an adventure.
Overall took me about 6-8 hours to do i think (limited tools at home here).
Took the opportunity to also change the leads and (oily) plugs while i was crawling around in there.
Of course every time i look in the engine bay i see something else that needs attention, maybe a new valve cover seal is order?
She's in and running just (somewhat) fine again.

And yeah, any metal can (rather quickly) be eaten away by any number of conditions.
I once saw a corner casting (a few inches thick) of an aluminium shipping container almost completely eaten away by salt water and electrolysis.
