Here's the estimated gas costs based on the mileage that I put on from last years trip (this is in my V6 MR2, but Duncan's Turbo was very similar as was his SC the year before):

KM's traveled: 4598km

Liters used: 441L

Avg Mileage: 9.6L/100km

Current Avg US gas prices (+conversion to CAD): $0.73/L

Estimate round trip cost: $320.25

Estimate Hotel Costs:

Wed. Apr.29
Klamath Falls, OR

Super 8
2 Queen Beds Room
$76.17 USD/Night

Thurs. Apr.30
Long Beach, CA

Marriott Residence Inn, LB, Downtown
Studio, 1 King, Sofa bed
189.00 USD/Night
On-site parking, fee: 17 USD daily

Fri. May.1
Long Beach, CA

Marriott Residence Inn, LB, Downtown
Studio, 1 King, Sofa bed
189.00 USD/Night
On-site parking, fee: 17 USD daily

Sat. May.2
Long Beach, CA

Marriott Residence Inn, LB, Downtown
Studio, 1 King, Sofa bed
189.00 USD/Night
On-site parking, fee: 17 USD daily

Sun. May.3
Long Beach, CA

Marriott Residence Inn, LB, Downtown
Studio, 1 King, Sofa bed
189.00 USD/Night
On-site parking, fee: 17 USD daily

Total cash rate: $756.00
Total taxes and fees: $114.23
Total for room: $870.23 USD
Parking: $17 x 4 = $68
Total: $938.23

I realize that this one is pricey, and I want to say that these rates are higher than last year as well. All the rooms here only have one bed, but they do have a pull out couch, so you can, at least put two people in a room. Some of the nice things at this hotel are a very nice breakfast (that is included in the price), a decent pool (& hot tub), and it's about a 30 second drive to the park where the show is held.

The Queen Mary: $160/Night
The Vagabond Inn: $93/Night
Best Western of Long Beach: $112/Night
Motel6: $101/Night
Days Inn: $96/Night
Quality Inn: $107/Night
Super8: $82/Night

Mon. May.4
Sacramento

Super 8
2 Queen Beds Room
$74.09 USD/Night

Tues. May.5
Portland (Wilsonville)

Super 8
2 Queen Beds Room
$88.00 USD/Night

Wed. May.6

I'm thinking very hard on how to make it to this event. Would be a great fun time to cannon ball this drive and see the sights.

Oh, it is. It's definitely worth it if you can get the time away.

By all means, it's a hell of a great time and I would absolutely go even if I wasn't showing my car.
