PARKS UPDATE:

I just spoke with Olympia and with rangers at Fort Casey State Park. Our options are as follows:

1. Each of us pay $10 upfront on State Parks Fees
2. Each of us pay $10 at the gates (Traffic jam)
3. You take your chances on a $91 ticket that, if you buy a year long pass after receiving the ticket for $30, will be reduced to around $50 (As per what the ranger told me)

They just got back from a meeting in Olympia and they were instructed to start ticketing anyone in violation, due to having been cut out of the state's budget. They rely on these fees unfortunately.

The $10 fee will cover our entrances into Casey and Deception Pass State Park, and any other state parks you feel like visiting that day, maybe on the way home. I dunno.

The OTHER option is that we don't go to state parks at all. Which means I'd need to get on Google Earth and start modifying the route. I don't *really* want to do this, but if it's what everyone else wants to do I'd consider it.

Please give me feedback ASAP, and if we decide to buy state park passess, PLEASE be proactive about purchasing them online BEFORE the drive. Thanks guys!

Sunset is exit 255 coming down I5.

Leaving at 8:00 would be cutting it pretty close. If you drive down the island instead of taking the ferry in Mulkilteo you will not make it to Clinton by 10:00 AM if you leave at 8:00 from Bellingham. If you were taking the ferry, it might be a different story, but it's still cutting it a little close if you plan to catch the 9:30 in Mukilteo.

I'd probably leave no later than 7:30 AM from Bham.

But I have no idea what you guys plan on doing.

Awesome pics Gary! Thank you so much for putting this event together again. I can't believe that this is my first Whidbey run, but it won't be the last.

Cops involved on an MR2 "cruise" I guess is inevitable...

Getting lost TWICE and double backing on the same route with 15 loud, fast cars is just plain STUPID and asking for trouble from the sheriffs. After this incident I broke off and made our own way to Fort Casey to eat my lunch since nobody seemed to know where everyone is or going. What happened to the FRS radios we used to use? Does anybody use GPS nowadays either?

Other than that, it was a nice to see everyone again and to meet new people. I'm really glad it was day for a driving and hanging out at the renovated fort.
I miss Canada.. :(
