Harrison Hot Spring Run: CANCELLED

Postby MR2MK1SC » Thu May 22, 2003 11:59 am

Hey all;

June is usually when we do the first of two Harrison Hot Spring Runs.
This drive is one of the less scenic, but does have the potential to allow you to open up your car to the long back road stretches. Pending response, we may even divide the pack up into two groups:
1) Those that want to open 'r up -and-
2) Those who want to take it easy...
Anyways, we can decide that later. For now, please use your voting options to help us decide on a day.

Thanking you in advance;
- MR2MK1SC

Last year's event was successful. We also planned a picnic. If there is interest again this year, we can look at doing the same.

I vote for the Saturday followed by a dinner out somewhere to meet up with those that work or cannot attend for other circumstances.

yeah, the picnic is a great idea. sit back and relax and BS with all the other drivers. Lots of us don't get to know each other on drives. This is a great chance to meet all the other nuts in our club.

Hopefully Sean's car will not catch fire this year.

oh, that was a cheap shot. No fires this year. Still running stock ignition wires. None of that Nology crap. Just gotta hope it's running happily by then.

It just oes to show that our meets/ drives are nothing less than interesting... Last year we even had a MKI drive sideways into a ditch.

This sounds sweet. I can't say what day will be best for me yet, but I hope I can attend.

:(

That would be a great drive, and the weather is usually great that weekend too, but I can't go. I have to be "OUT STANDING IN MY FIELD" cause its amateur radio "field day".

Its the amateur radio equivalent of a great MR2 drive, but its also a public service event where the amateur radio fraternity in North America does a 24 hour test (aka contest) -- usually running only from batteries. This tests our REAL preparation for the inevitable emergency that will come along (hmm, did I just feel the earth tremble?? :wink:).

If anyone wants to go for a drive and see Field Day in action, and maybe even try your hand on a few calls, then let me know and I'll give directions to where we'll be setup in Delta. Of course, there are other sites throughout Vancouver too.

Sooo, here's hoping that July drive (before the BCMR2 meet) is a bit luckier for me on dates. :D
