i think the idea where we learn tips and stuff on how to fix our cars for cheap ourselves is an awesome idea.

maybe we could do some of that and have coffee at the same time or something?

i know that when i get my Mr2, im not taking it to any garages. its not that i dont trust mechanics, its just that i am a do-it-yourself kinda guy. this applies to everything in my life. hahaa, i have to do it, or it doesnt feel right. :P

We've tried something similar in the past with little success, maybe with a newer, different group of members it just might work...

I'd love to get some tips on stuff like that, i can do basic stuff but when it gets into the more complex things i prefer to step out and let a profesional do it, it may not be that difficult it's just i don't have the knowledge, so i like that idea.

probably engine maintainance and maybe some do-it-yourself mods, like lowering your car and stuff like that. i read somewhere about a under 200$ HP boost mod... i'd be interested in all that kind of stuff!

Most mods required tools...
And we have had this discussion before on the board.

Where lots of members don't have access to the tools or a location to work on there own car.

As for info I aways tell anyone interested in working on there own car.
To purchase the OEM manuals.. where it gives you step by step instructions with torque specs you name it..

Stuff that I couldn't even explain to people.

You are always welcome to search the board for the info..
If not post a help thread suspension or engine etc etc.

As for performance mods.. I have a number of under 200 bucks modifications for the turbo

Torque specs would refer to how tight you tighten a nut or bolt. Over torquing could cause the bolt head to snap off, you could damage the threads or if you're putting on something with a gasket/o'ring you could pinch the o'ring and cut it.
The books Cam mentioned have all the torque specs so when you go to put on your valve cover on for instance, you know how tight to tighten the bolts and would then use your torque wrench set to that so as to not overtighten.

yes the original manuals have all this great info..

Plus you have torque settings .. and some items have a proper sequence that the bolts need to be tightened
