IMO, a free technical meet is a heavy obligation. You need space, tools, patience, half-way good teaching skills and most importantly the experience & technical chops to host it - for nothing. Even if you're willing to host it w/o being mechanically savvy, you still then need to convince someone to be the master. And most (all?) techs are quiet on that front, especially when there's no coinage involved. It's no wonder there hasn't ever been one - like ever.

Even if it's free, I think the location is the biggest issue. There are enough of us around to talk shop for a couple of hours.

Ur right Russ, I could totally do it at my place but its only feasable for 2-3 cars max so I wouldn't want to limit the ppl, and ya I didn't think about the space..... Hmmmm where to find space...

I dunno how well it'd bode with my dad, but I MIGHT be able to ask him if we can use his shop when he's closed. There are 3 lifts, power tools powered by air compressor and 3 full tool chests. Although I think he'd lock all them up, bring your own tools and maybe we can use the power tools, like impact wrenches, etc. There's also a ton of space outside, and jacks too if all the lifts are taken. If you guys are really serious about this, I can ask. Last thing I'd want to do is tell him that 10 MR2 guys are coming over, and have 3/4 of them bail last minute.

I would totally be up for it, pending work. If we pick a date I could be better at telling you yes or no.

Our usual BCMR2 monthly coffee meets - see thread
PNWMR2 monthly coffee meets - see thread

Whidbey Island - Maybe?
North Cascades Drive/Leavenworth - See thread
Friday night Tacoma Aroma

All other meets:
Revscene Spring Meet - See thread
Revscene Summer Meet
Weissach Cars & Coffee - Spanish Banks
510 Realm Classic Japanese Meet - Spanish Banks
VIDE All Japanese Meet (Victoria)
Autox - Local clubs

Thanks guys. As I've mentioned many times before, if you want an MR2 meet feel free to make one on your own, don't wait for me.

Where is there sanctioned autoX? I've done lots of Friday night street legals at mission and I know there's an autoX club at mission but do they have events where you just show up and sign in like you do at the Friday drags?

The autox is done at the BC driving center (aka Pitt Meadows Airport). All sign ups are done ahead of time as it's quite popular and just about every event is a sell out. You can find more details in our Autox thread here.

Would be nice if this group could put on a summer weekend event as was done in past years.
Remember BC 20xx?
Car show coupled with a nice drive in the country.

That would be great Kevin, if you could find 4-5 people that would be willing to invest their time I'm sure we could get a great meet going.

How about having one of your Coffee meets on a Sunday? Instead of week nights. So some of us working during the week could attend? Also less traffic to deal with and daylight to view our cars.
