WTB: OEM wiring harness for 87 stereo

Postby Landon_F » Sun Feb 09, 2003 4:20 pm

I'm looking for the stereo harness from an 87 MR2.
Specifically I just need the end that plugs into the factory deck.

If anyone has this kicking around or an extra from a parts car, I'd be very interested in knowing.

Actually, I probably have that harness with a busted tape deck. It's back in Vernon, but next time I'm back I can pick it up.

I pulled the tape deck out of my 87 and tossed it in the closet. If you want it, email me.

what deck is it for? It may be different. Mine was a single DIN tape deck. I know JIMR2 had the double din deck. Not sure if the connectors are the same.

Yeah, I don't know if the single DIN or double DIN matters, but I do know that I need the one that includes front and rear speakers.

So just to confirm, this is the part that came off of the factory harness that plugs into the factory tape deck.

Since yours is from the 87 model, I'm thinking this might be the safest bet.
Can I come see it sometime?

Thanks everyone for your eager help, I really appreciate it.
Hopefully I'll get this all sorted out.

Hey Narfy, did a single din ever come with an 87? This is what mine had, and I'm pretty sure it was toyota. Also, can you determine if they are the same wiring harness? Even if Landon_F gets JIMR2's, I'd like to know if they're different or if the deck i have is stock or out of some other car.

the MR2's SHOULD ahve teh same harnesses... i know my harness and connectors were missing 4 wires.. i had 4 holes in my connectors... missing rear speakers as i ahve 2 speakers... they should plug in.. all the ones i have should work for other years... toyota's really good with their harnesses and connectors... they use the same ones for many many many models...

Ok, well then maybe I should check out some junkyards.

Narfy,

How much do you think it would be from Toyota?
Nah, maybe that's not worth it. It's just a stupid peice of plastic with some wires sticking out of it, for crying out loud!

to my knowledge, you can buy the connector plastic, but the wires you have to splice on yourself... grab jimr2's and take a look at it... it SHOULD fit...

Yeah Landon, You can come see em! Just give me a call or a pm!

I have the double din tape deck, with all the perks. I also have the harness kicking around somewhere.

I'll get it all together.
