New ish to site....looking for MK1

Postby Richard Motion » Sat Nov 22, 2014 8:00 am

Hey all, looking for my 1st MR2. In Kelowna will travel. Would like 1st gen 5 speed not red. Budget isn't what I would like so a daily driver fixer upper would be fine. Less that 4k would be ideal. Mileage doesn't really matter.

Best of luck in your search Richard. There won't be too much here on the forum, so I think your best bet is to keep an eye out on craigslist. You can always try searching in the states as well since there is going to be a lot more selection if you are willing to travel some.

Got me a red 87.
Not really what I was after but impatience got the better of me. Price was agreeable .... Ish.
Truthfully I think I jumped at it too early but I was looking long term so no big deal. Just means end result is a touch farther away.
No pics as of yet as pick up is next week.. Will keep you guys posted as it looks like I'm gonna need some stuff

Its hard to be patient when you get the bug and there really is nothing wrong with a red 87.
Will watch for the pics, have fun !

Darn snow storms are preventing me from picking up car so I can get started.
Been cramming all the info I can into old brain...

How do I know if I have a mk1a or b? Or the elusive Mk 1.5?

Hi Richard,
Am not certain about a MK1.5, have not heard of that term. ?
There is good information on the North American MK1A or B, I can't seem to see it right now.
I just googled and found a web site, http://mk1mr2.webs.com/mk1amk1bdifferences.htm this is UK.
In NorthAmerica is a little different ,not all "B'" s have electirc antenna.( possibly other differences )
The biggest difference I know of is the side skirts, MK1B is with skirts.
Is the Mk1.5 to do with displacement ?
If you want some info on you car , I could confirm engine size and other basic info if you let me know the serial #
Or others can jump in, re MK1.5 ?

A MK1.5 is a term created by enthusiasts who put the mk2 2.0L turbo engine in a mk1.
