Armrest Reinforcing?

Postby ChrisZ » Tue Sep 02, 2003 2:01 pm

I know that the armrest for '87+ interiors love to crack because I'm now the latest victim. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the armrest is a hard plastic shell with some soft stuff on top. Now mine has a cracked shell but the soft stuff looks intact. Would I be able to pop it back into place and reinforce the bottom of the armrest? Anyone done this before and have any advice for me?

I broke mine in my old 87 as well. All I did was put it back in place, epoxy the crap out of the cracks, and stopped leaning on it heavily. It was fine after that.

You could get some thin metal strips and stuff to reinforce it though, and just epoxy them in. It would help quite a bit.
Duct tape is like the force, it has a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together.

Take some wire mesh and fiberglass that onto the crack.
