How big are the trunks?

Postby Mazdarx » Tue Mar 13, 2012 10:00 am

Specifically on a Mk1? I know they aren't huge, but I'm looking to add a Mk1 to my current fleet of 2 Jeep Yj's, an Escort GT and a 323 GTX. I'd like to know if something of the following dimensions might be able to fit in either trunk? Length-38", Height-12.5", width-18", also weighs about 30 pounds if that matters any.

I don't have measurements off hand, but from what I recall it should fit fine in the back.

interesting collection of vehicles
the original sales brochure shows a couple of standard sets of contemporary golf clubs ,(ie: 3 woods, std. irons, wedge, putter, bag), in the trunk.
I've had my bag in the trunk with no problems. looks like 2 would fit as long as they don't have carts.
A loaded tournament bag might be a bit tight, but I don't think 2 tournament bags would fit .

just an fyi, front trunk is usually referred to as the "frunk"
although some people claim to be feeding the car when they get strange looks while loading groceries :)
