A damp cloth.

Although I have heard that armor all isn't very good for the dash, I haven't found it to be bad.

I was hoping for some kind of solution that I can purchase to make it glossy and protect the dash from the sun. Give it that brand new look.

That's a very good link for a thorough detailing. I might use it this Spring.

I normally use a damp cloth too but a conditioning agent would be nice once in while.

Problem is, most of these products on these American boards aren't at your nearest Crap Tire, Wal-Mart, Home Hardware or even Lordco for that matter. The prospect of ordering on-line or trucking to Blaine/Bellingham just for cleaner leaves me cold. Isn't there something around here that us Nortern folk can use that doesn't start with Armor All or dry & crack the dash?

303 works very well on interior plastics and vinyl (dash) and also on exterior trim and tires, it also contains an spf 40 in it to protect from the sun, but it conditions it. you should be able to find it locally fairly easy.

I switched from Armorall to 'Black Chrome', made by Turtlewax, a long time ago, and am very happy with it. It is labled as a cleaner/sealant, but I would classify it more as a shine/sealant. If you wipe it down a bit, after apllication, it won't have that same oily/slick feel that Armorall tends to leave, and it lasts quite well. I also use it on my tires, as it gives you more of a nice satin black look, instead of that weird glossy look that Armorall does.
The best vinyl cleaner I ever had, was from Armorall though, but they discontinued it ages ago, in order to start plugging their stupid all in one formulas.
So long, and thanks for all the fish! :-)

If you are a member of the club, then you can get Meguirs at a pretty good price at Lordco. That is what I use, largely because of the terribly reputation of Armor-All. Never had a problem, and does a good job. Use it on my doors and trim-pieces too.

just remembered this
back in my 240Z/Van days we used to mix armorall (which was about the only vinyl/plastic/rubber product available) 50/50 with water. Always applied it with a cloth, not directly from the spray bottle, and then wiped it with a clean dry cloth after a couple of minutes.
It really cut down on the oily feel and gave it more of a semi-gloss look which also helped cut the glare on the windshield over the instrument bezel as well.
Don't know if it helped or hurt the vinyl but I had my van for 11 years and never had an issue with the dash, seats or any of the interior plastic cracking or fading.

Now I use the Lexol and Toyota Touch product

You know Lexol is amazing stuff when equestrians use it on their $5000+ saddles.
