Massive condensation underside of frunk

Postby immorality » Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:50 pm

When I open my frunk the inside of it is is super wet. I assume that I just need to replace the seal, but has anyone has anything similar happen to them?

I have heard of this from another owner, but do not know where it's coming from....

Their temporary release was just to remove the drain plug below the spare tire.

Not sure it's the same thing but I had similar condensation in my trunk & frunk in my T-top turbo some years back. The moisture just wouldn't go away even several weeks after I bought it. I went back to the guy who sold it to me and he said he pressure washed the engine bay, trunk and the frunk too. The engine bay took care of itself on account of the heat but apparently there was moisture trapped in all sorts of sections of the other two compartments that I couldn't get to - keeping them closed didn't help. I spoke w/ Johnny R. about it (Weasy2K) and he said the best way to get rid of it was to leave the trunk & frunk wide open for at least 24 hours indoors someplace warm. That's what I did and it worked.

I know a key contributor to rear-trunk condensation are bad seals around the lights. Top seals aren't usually the problem. As well, rusting of the inner wheel well can contribute to it.

I've not seen this on the frunk, but if not surprising particuarly for a vehicle that is parked outside at this time of year. The seals are the likely culprit in this location, unless you've got some perforation going.

I bought a new frunk weather stripping as part of my last order from 1sttoyota. Seems to have done the trick, and now my frunk pops when I pull the lever!
