Guage cluster updated, check it out

Postby MRII » Sat Aug 15, 2009 1:43 pm

Ordered a set of aluminum rings and some LED bulbs a few months ago. Finally had to time to install them and it looks great. Very easy to install, maybe an 1 hour to install and double check everything.
All parts cost approx. $100

Looks good. Can you give us a parts list for the bulbs?

Very good job, I'm impressed. Still looks stock but w/ more definition. An hour, huh? Probably take me a week.

Thanks guys, i forgot to mention that it took an hour to do the total install because it was on a 93 turbo, if it was on a 91-92 it would have taken longer because of the mechanical speedo attached to the guage cluster. I did run into one problem, i did not disconnect the battery when i was removing the cluster, so the SRS lite is on, so i will be playing the drums to clear the code.

How did you attach the gauge rings? I managed to pick up a seven piece set that I'm hoping to install this evening.

Hans, you did a great job! I have GOT to pick up some of those trim rings!

If anyone is looking for an LED setup, Jordan does them installed for $70, and he can do it in about 20 minutes, on any model of MR2. I'm going to get him to do mine in red soon.

Where do you guys purchase the bulbs?

I purchased a set from the site Tony used and they all burnt out within a few weeks. I was not impressed.
