sound deadening material

hi ! i was just wondering if anyone knows the approximate weight of the sound deadening material found behind the firewall carpet and the floor...has anyone here removed this before? to be completely clear i mean the dense painted stuff adhered to the floor not the carpet backing...

12lbs, and in my humble opinion, not worth removing unless it's a race car 'cause the only thing you will notice on a street car is the noise. There are a lot of other things that will get you ahead of this quite easily.

By removing that stuff, your will get a lot of noise inside the cab. It will not be enjoyable after a while. Not worth the 10-12 pounds.
Pay a visit ot the bathroom and leave your jacket at home to shave off 12 lbs

yeah poop real good, dont eat, and wear shorts, alot less labor than stripping the dampening material, you will hate it, you'll hear every noise of the road.
