Check Engine light on

Postby MR2_Jester » Wed Jun 25, 2014 9:36 pm

Hey guys, had a bit of an issue the other day, my air/fuel plug in came loose, check engine light was on and then off, air/fuel is re secured and all was good for the rest of the day, then late today check engine light came on again. Not noticing any problems performance wise, air/fuel is still tight. Any ideas what it could be? Not sure how the self diagnostic thing works (figuring out codes?) Car is a 91 JDM turbo. Thanks!

The first thing to check is always if your gas cap is on tight :)

Thanks for the link Russ, got a 22 code, so water temp sensor I guess? Does that explain rough idle and stalling?

Well, something in that circuit is an issue so better start going through the checks. It could definitely have something to do with driveability issues.

Drove around a bunch last night. Check engine light stayed on but other then that it ran fine. My best guess, would be the cold engine sensor? What other checks can I do?

Got this solved last night thanks to Camshaft driving out to Abbotsford to save me, can't thank you enough for that Cam, much appreciated. Certainly a Thumbs up for Camshaft for this, but I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of you on the forum. I can't think of a single time I had posted a problem with the MR2 where I didn't get several replies within hours of posting. I absolutely the car, and I've been privileged to keep it going for so long thanks to many of you here. So thanks a lot guys and gals!
