Suspension/Body Alignment shops

Postby Oteck » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:01 pm

I need a decent place to send my car for some repairs. the weld nut that holds part of the front control arm decides to bite into the bolt i was taking out and now won't let go.
The bolt itself will freely spin and move back and forth a good 1/2 but will not let go from the weld not behind the sub frame. just feeling it from the inside of the subframe the top portion of the weld nut has dug a groove on the bolt preventing me from pulling it out. either way the weld nut needs to be removed/replaced.

while im at it a may aswell get them to beef up the swaybar mount

P.S. i did not use the impact gun on the initial removal but kinda gay it still did it with a wrench

I automatically recommend Dales, but it would be a significant tow bill from your place.

we tried everything :( except drilling it out and welding in a new one. If he could tow it to my place it would be an after noon job... but thats farther than dales...

I can only suggest cutting slits to allow a 90degree angle die grinder with a carbide bit. Grind off the spinning nut
Or use a dremel with flexi head

Any alignment shop recommendations in Vancouver/Burnaby/Richmond?

I work Monday-Friday and find it tough to get out to langley for an alignment...

Thanks!

You can try Advance Auto in Richmond, No.6 and Westminster. It's where my dad gets alignments done for his customers' cars, and knows the owner quite well. He also did an alignment on my Integra. Ask for John and tell him Dalton aka Oscar's kid recommended ya :]

Just be careful going into the complex, the driveway is really steep lol.

Thanks Dalton, I'll give them a call.

I have an appointment with Dale's for next Saturday but I want to drive now!

Yes, thanks for the referral.

John was good in that he explained the results and everything. Made sense for me since I can work from home in Richmond and take an hour break to go get it done. He also has the same machine as Dales and got the specs pretty close to what Jason did for the last alignment.
