HELP Stalling

Postby MR2_Jester » Sat Mar 03, 2012 7:12 am

Okay so here's whats going on, 91 MR2 turbo JDM. it's stalling out on me, but not consistently of course, this is only the second time. The idle is also a little rough (consistently) you can feel when it's about to stall and if you push the peddle down it will prevent it from stalling, however as soon as you ease off it will stall and not start up again right away. Any thoughts? fuel pump maybe?

Could be lots of different things. I would start by looking for a vacuum leak somewhere. Check to see that all the little vacuum hoses are connected, if you see anything loose or disconnected that may be the problem.

I would check upon what Sarah mentioned first.
This is the second time stalling in between how long of a period?

second time in about a month and a half or two months. It starts up again if you let it sit for a while and then there's no issue.

take a look at the coolant temprature sensor on the "coolant manifold" thing. follow from your coolant filler cap, down the hose to the aluminum housing that has a bunch of sensor and hoses coming out of it, when on the left hand side of the vehicle looking in, it will be on the side facing towards the front, the top one of the two sensors. LIGHTLY wiggle the plug, if the plastic part moves freely in the brass part it could be the problem. mine showed this symptoms before it cracked more and caused it to hesitate and other issues.
