Worth $32,000?

Postby Bravo 5 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:54 pm

Not sure if it's worth $32,000... but he's probably not too far off considering how much it must have cost him to get it here.

This looks like a retired persons mr2 imo (as in it's a convertable), I wouldn't shell out $32,000 for it.

Think about it this way, it's like a RHD JDM non turbo (very cheap), but with the top cut off. Now does $32,000 seem a bit much, or do you guys value this Spyder highly?

less than 100 virtually hand built by Toyota Techno Craft (Now TRD) between '96 and '99.
They are in the same category as the MK1 Super Edition models. especially if they are unmolested factory originals
I don't remember off hand if they had the BEAMS engine or the gen 3 3S-GE but either way they would be about 200hp for an N/A.
Also would include lots of model specific extras not available on any other MR2.

Personally, I would spend 32 grand on a Mk4 Supra.. but I'm sure there are a handful of MR2 lovers out there that would be able to drop 30k on a rare droptop MR2.

Agreed. If I win the Lotto Max tonight I'm flying to Ontario and buying this car.

This sums it up for me. 32k is high but not far fetched. To me its more then just a mr2 with its roof chopped off.

The blue stripe is hideous, but other than that it's cool. I would definitely only be spending that kinda money on a Supra, too, but that's why cars come in all shapes and sizes, right? Not everybody likes the same thing :)

I believe they have had either the 3rd gen 3sge or the Beams depending on the year.....I saw an ad for one of these in the MR2 only magazine a few years back for a very rare turbo model but have no idea if that was legit or not. Not sure what else they came with special but the Spiders always seem to have the 94+ style seats but in bright blue cloth....

There might be lots of Spyders out there......but getting your hands on a MR2 Spider is like getting your hands on a super edition or a real TRD widebody. It's a waste of money if you don't know what it is.....and if you know what it is, you'd give your left nut for it.

7000 euros converted to USD = $8600
or is it pounds? 7000 to USD = $10,843

For $10,000 I'd buy it in a heartbeat! And according to the ad 91 were made with less than 20 being manuals. The one for sale is a manual... maybe it's the same car?

I sorta like the blue stripe... it sets it apart from other "normal" MKIIs.

From my personal collection... MKII Spider brochure. Anyone read Japanese?

Made me excited for a bit, ignored the 91 in the title and saw Spyder right away: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/c ... 88038.html

Then it was oh, just another cluless dealer -.-
