The Gas Price Thread, are you driving less?

Postby immorality » Fri May 25, 2012 7:55 am

Many of us here in the lower mainland are freaking out with the sky high price of gas this morning, with it being in the neighbourhood of $1.503/L. So, are you driving less? Are you driving like a little old lady?

I've been paying about $1.14 a litre or less down in Blaine. I can't even remember the last time I filled up here. I'm down there every weekend anyways picking stuff up from Hagens. Nexus kicks ass!

As for driving less... no not really. If anything we drive more since we're always taking the little guy out some place.

Fill up in the states and you will feel better. I will never pay these prices when the border is right here.

I used to fill up at the states, but now I stopped buying parts so I'm never motivated to go down there just for gas. It is worth the trip though, especially because milk is so cheap there at cost cutters....you guys know how much milk East Indian's buy...

I don't drive less due to gas prices though, by driving a mr2 for transportation, priceless.

Which gas station do you guys usually go to if going through the Pacific or Peace Arch border, Shell is the closest right?

It hasn't stopped me from driving, but for me, making the trip to Blaine is 45 minutes each way. There are few times when my daily travels take me any closer, so unless I am heading down for parts I'm stuck buying gas here.

Friend of mine never pays attention to gas prices. Just pumps till it hits $50 or cuts off, whichever comes first.

Drive like the little old lady who taught me to drive, drove.

I'm with Bravo5 buying in Blaine or B'ham

and I'm thankful I can car pool to work.

The gas stations closest to the actual border are WAY over priced. The Chevron on Peace Portal Drive usually costs about .50 more a gallon than the Texaco around the corner. And Texaco sells Chevron gas. Same goes for the Chevron on just the other side of the Pac Highway crossing. Take the 30 seconds and drive around corner to D Street and hit the Texaco station.

We are getting ripped off with taxes etc.
I'm Calgary right now and the price is $1.12/ltr :(

Fraser valley is usually 10-15 c/Ltr less because if translink taxes. But still high.
Glad my daily driver takes regular. not the 91-94 that the turbo demands!
and yes my 2 gets less driving...

Stupid carbon tax isn't very helpful either.

Like Bravo 5 stated, Texaco. Take the SUV and just bring a couple of 20L jerry cans with you and fill them up also.

I don't mind the gas prices, but I sure as heck don't like them. But I figure, meh, it's only gonna get higher, what can we do, really.

Oh and if you have a Droid or iPhone, use the free app Gas Buddy. I helped my mom find cheaper gas down the street, was gonna get $1.49 but the Chevron down the street (right by the Vancouver coffee meet location) had it for $1.47. Not bad. :P

The hype on the gas prices is overwhelmed by the announcement of Aircare's removal in 2014. As soon as I heard this, I told myself. Full cat-less exhaust. 2014. A-go time

Yeah, I'm the same. I don't really care how high gas prices go. I'm making a good wage (and so does my girl), and I don't have any Canadian vices like drinking, smoking, new car payments, cable TV, credit card bills, idiotic phone contracts, etc..

Since I'm not really on the installment plan with anyone, that equals lotsa discretionary income to fill up w/premium 94 and keep my deuce in good shape.

Our Odyssey goes through $80 a week so anytime we get a chance to fill up when we cross the border I bring my 2 big jerry cans for reserve fuel.
We can't drive less, or I guess we have not considered driving less.

My dad got caught with jerry cans and the officer told him not to do it again.
