Whose car is this?

Postby kakucaekz » Sun Mar 11, 2012 9:47 pm

Was searching through craigslist today and saw this immaculate 93 MR2 for sale.

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/c ... 53898.html

Who's car is it? The ad mentions BCMR2, so it has to belong to a member here. The pictures are pretty small, but it's an absolute beauty from what I can see.

One of his MR2s? Hot damn, are there any pics of the rest? lol. If he's willing to sell that one, the other one(s) must be even mintier!

Now that the news has broken, I can tell you that Dan has been thinking about selling it for close to a year or more - basically not using it (he's still got his beautiful SW20 N/A). IMO, it's undervalued at his asking price ($11k), this car is as close to showroom as it gets. It would have been in my back pocket long ago, but I just can't commit to a T-top again.

Would it qualify for collectors if it doesn't have the stock tails and other cosmetic changes? I thought it had to be pretty much bone stock...

Doesn't have to be stock.....but all aftermarket items and mods have to be period correct with the year of the vehicle.

Limited production vehicles do qualify for a 15 year rule on the collector plates.....but that is based on worldwide production numbers.

Found another BCMR2 car on CL http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/c ... 56731.html

Now I'm sure this is a member here, since a lot of the pictures are at meets. And one seems to be next to Russ' 94 NA hardtop. Who's is this? And why is he selling it, why not just put it in storage? :( Kinda sucks that some bloke with no knowledge or appreciation of such a nice stock car might buy it and ruin it. =\

Yep Pete, it's time for the 93 turbo to go. I haven't been driving it and it deserves to go to someone who will enjoy it more. I don't need the money but some other things have been taking up my time...

Beside I'm more a MKI guy anyways.

And a 91 n/a that Pete mentioned... that's about 4 coats of Collonite 476.

Nope! Just making space and I think Gary or whoever will enjoy it more than me.

Wow, your '91 sure shines Dan. Can you get that Collinite locally or do you just order it online?

I got it from Ken at Auto Werkes Exclusive in Maple Ridge and it's only $17.50 a tin which will last forever. I've tried alot of different waxes and sealants over the years from Mother's to Meguirs to Zaino but nothing compares to the durability of Collonite. This stuff is great for people like me who don't want to wax every couple of months. Last winter I left my black 91 outside, dirty, but with 2 coats of this wax underneath and let the snow pile up. After the winter I washed it off and it looked great and was still super slick. I also once accidentally left some on too long and I spent the next few minutes sweating and grunting trying to remove it. ONE panel at a time with this stuff.

The tin also says it good for waxing furniture!

Looks like Ken has closed the store portion of his shop for now. Hopefully he will open up again soon.
